Shanghai Fashion Week finally returned for the Fall/Winter 2023 season. Upon breaking free from mask mandates and COVID policies, China and the city of Shanghai are slowly recovering and returning to pre-COVID events.
Shanghai, often known as China’s fashion capital, has taken to the busy streets one again, to show off some of the best street style looks during fashion week. While it has been a couple of years since the last fashion week, the city and its people are proving that they are ready to get back into the thick of the industry. Hypebeast was on the ground to capture some of the best looks from the week. In between cloudy days and major temperature differences, Shanghai Fashion Week attendees showed off their versatile outfits.
Ensembles feature high luxe pairings with colorful and bold knitted sweaters and tailored trousers. Light overcoats like the Valentino x UNDERCOVER raincoat from 2019 resurfaces as a staple for the transitional weather forecasts, while others who chose to prioritize comfort are seen in an oversized Balenciaga sweater. Making a statement was the JW Anderson and Tom of Finland collaboration, capturing the eyes of any onlooker. Baggy silhouettes still remain supreme as showgoers pair oversized blazers with matching trousers. Eccentric patterned knitwear, dresses, and outerwear take to the streets, proving that a pop of color, is always the way to go. Shanghai Fashion Week street style was a masterclass in layering, pairing flowing leather coats with denim skirts.
Take a look above at some of the best street styles looks from Shanghai Fashion Week FW23.
