American fashion designer Willy Chavarria has tapped California sportswear label Pro Club for an exclusive Spring/Summer 2023 collaboration. The limited-edition range, which first met the world on Chavarria’s SS23 runway in September of last year, sees the namesake designer pump his signature codes into Pro Club’s quintessentially oversized silhouettes.
Chavarria, who was born in Fresno, California, looks to honor the sporty imprint for shaping the state’s style culture and influencing fashion for decades, through this team-up. Among the range, which features 11 pieces, essential designs turn experimental through accentuated shapes and cuts.
The Tony Tank Top, for instance, extends down to the mid-thigh, and the French Terry Cargo Shorts expand outward to below the knee with myriad utilitarian pockets. The classic Cargo Pant, meanwhile, boasts a similar wide-leg construction, with surplus fabric bundling at the ankle.
Other designs let distinctive graphics and emblematic motifs do the work. The Windbreaker Jacket centers dual iconography on a black-red-white color story, while the “Homies” T-shirt dons feel-good lettering that reads, “AMIGOS! LET’S STAY HOMIES FOR LIFE.” Overall, the line prioritizes quality craftsmanship with constructions remastered in true Chavarria form.
The collection is now available to shop on Willy Chavarria and Pro Club’s webstores. Notably, the line arrives alongside a campaign, shot by Ricky Alvarez and styled by Marcus Correa, inside New York’s Plaza Hotel, which you can peruse in the gallery above.
