Chaz A. Jordan returns to Paris for his second collection with 1989 Studio. While season saw the designer reimagine classic wardrobe staples in monochromatic fashion, it appears that this time around, his focus was to bring the everyday cool to high fashion.
Jordan described his collection as “dishevelled to a degree,” which translates to effortless everyday cool. The models’ lineup recreates a scene from a Santa Monica High School setting in the early 2000s. Looking back to the carefree days of the youth during that period, Jordan continues to expand his reimagination on basics. The utilization of denim throughout brings the vintage aesthetic to the collection. Relaxed tailoring is evident in the pieces, combining wide leg pants with utilitarian shapes. Mohair cashmere sweaters are paired alongside oversized, multi-pocketed jeans while singular color blocking suits give a useful options for formalwear.
The collection revives the late ’90s and early 2000s aesthetic, on trend with the current Gen Z notion. The collection is a coming of age style that sees the 1989 Studio kid stand on the cups of adulthood. Take a look at the collection above.
