MM6 Maison Margiela continues to prove that time and time again, they are masters at pragmatic wearability. The Resort 2024 lineup continues to focus on “subtle details and gestures that have the power to transform a garment,” as per the show notes.
Known for its attention to detail, the season brings forward MM6’s striking use of traditional techniques that are often incorporated into the French house’s signature informal, relaxed and work-in-progress aesthetic. The no fuss look consists of ruched necklines and roomy trousers while the trenchcoat receives a couture update, giving a less conventional and rigid look to the otherwise structured piece. Oversized blazers and boxy fit vest drape over the body effortlessly, pairing well with parachute pants.
Pieces are put together for a deconstructed aesthetic, keeping to minimalist ensembles that highlight texture and shape, giving everyday wearability for the apparel. The collection intends to play on the theme of opposites where for instance, a tailored and utilitarian-leaning vest is paired with a matching pair of relaxed trousers. Boxy blazers that often signal a sense of formality are seen with oversized track-inspired pants giving a mix-and-match sequence that can easily pivots the outfit to be comfort-focused.
The accessories include an ongoing collaboration with Salomon. The MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon XT-4 arrives with a single lace system, amped-up soles and in a purple and teal colorway. Last season’s Numeric bag returns in a mini and large version in various seasonal sage or lime green leather shades as well as a classic black. Take a look at the collection above.
