“I always liked the idea of watching horror movies during summer daylight to soften its intent,” said Our Legacy‘s Creative Director, Cristopher Nying. It is this that inspired Our Legacy Spring 2024; a collection titled “Snow in April” that’s not all that it seems. Per Nying, “The mixing of the film’s visuals and sunlight causing it to be faded and overexposed has inspired the prints present in the collection.”
As a result, we find graphic T-shirts splattered with Japanese horror film motifs and visuals, combined with Sweden’s “Name Day” celebration for the month of April. Graphics are slashed across deep V-neck tops, paired with chunky metal choker chains, leather bracelets, and wraps of cotton for gore factor, and faded out for that quintessential independent production scary movie look and feel.
However, this is just the start — Our Legacy Spring 2024 is unpredictable, much like the weather in Stockholm. It’s here where the collection earns its name, “Snow in April,” as seemingly warm days transform instantly into winter.
In order to solve the issues of dressing for the weather, Our Legacy has built its most transformative and technical collection to date. Knitwear, covered in traditional wintery motifs, is thin and light for all-year-round use, while dresses are made from technical nylon like a pair of track pants for the ultimate versatility.
This is the core thread for Spring 2024. Dry and dusty colors — golden brown, muddy lavender, carbon, and pink — conjure thoughts of early winter, but are instead used to trick the eye into thinking this is a cold-weather garment. But the pieces are not, instead, they’re designed to look like the item they’re trying to be, while being incredibly functional and modular. For example, cable knit is trompe l’oeil-ed onto a long-sleeve T-shirt, while wool-like suiting is in fact made from linen.
New denim shapes are boxy and workwear inspired, but perhaps the most comfortable jeans you’ll ever find. That’s because they feature the brand’s proprietary “Chain-Twill” denim, which makes for a cozy but almost jogger-like texture.
