Update:ย Since announcing the launch date for her eponymous fashion label in February,ย Phoebe Philoย has been silently crafting the brandโ€™s inaugural collection, due out in September of this year. According to a new report fromย WWD, the signature line, which will mark Philoโ€™s much-anticipated return to the industry, is slated to include ready-to-wear, leather goods, jewelry, eyewear and footwear.

The collection is expected to feature more than 150 pieces, and it will launch via the brandโ€™s online store, with shipping initially available in the U.K., Europe and the U.S. Notably, former Canadian-Ukrainian model Daria Werbowy, who often appeared in Philoโ€™s Celine campaigns, will be a face of the brand, per the outlet.

Philo launched the brandโ€™s Instagram alongside its announcement in February, with a now-deleted post that stated the labelโ€™s registration portal would open in July. At the time of writing, the account boasts more than 195,000 followers, with zero posts.

Given her unwavering influence in fashion, Philoโ€™s revival will undoubtedly captivate the industry zeitgeist. According to WWDโ€˜s sources, Philo plans to establish relationships with the top customers from her Celine days, as the brand prepares to launch. Additionally, the designer does not presently have plans to return to the runway, and she will not open any retail outposts until 2026.

Original Story:ย Phoebe Philoย will launch her long-awaited fashion label in September.

The decorated British designer created an officialย Instagramย account for her namesake brand on Thursday, confirming the imprintโ€™s drop date in the first post. โ€œOur inaugural collection will be revealed and available on our website, phoebephilo.com, in September 2023,โ€ she wrote. โ€œWe will be opening for registration in July 2023 and look forward to being back in touch then.โ€

Philo has been very quiet sinceย announcingย her grand return to fashion in July 2021. At the time, the designer disclosed that she would be launching an independent fashion house, with LVMH Moรซt Hennessy Louis Vuitton as a minority investor.

According toย Business of Fashion, Philo said the label would be โ€œrooted in exceptional quality and design.โ€ She added, โ€œI am very much looking forward to being back in touch with my audience and people everywhere. To be independent, to govern and experiment on my own terms is hugely significant to me.โ€

Though largely silent on the subject ever since, Philo did quietly appoint Patrik Silรฉn as chief operating officer of the brand last year, according toย WWD. Silรฉn, who graduated from Harvard Business School, spent 16 years at consulting firm McKinsey & Company before more recently working as chief strategy officer at Asos.com in the U.K. Additionally, according to market sources via the outlet, Philo tapped both a denim designer and workshop lead from Balenciaga, as well as a human resources director from Burberry.

Philoโ€™s exit from fashion left the industry yearning for more from the prolific designer, whoย The New York Timesย has aptly denoted as the โ€œpatron saint of designing for the female gaze.โ€ The designer took the top seat atย Chloรฉย in 2001, where she successfully accelerated the brandโ€™s business with her signature blending of masculine style tropes and bohemian femininity.

She left Chloรฉ in 2006 for personal reasons; and after long conversations with LVMH about launching her own label, Philo became the creative director atย Celineย in 2008. There, her work, commonly referred to as โ€œOld Celine,โ€ transformed the fashion house with contemporary, minimal designs that continuously surpassed revenue expectations.

Stay tuned for Phoebe Philoโ€™s first namesake collection this September.
