Yohji Yamamoto has always amazed those who wish to listen. The Japanese designer has constantly pushed the boundaries of fashion to unbelievable heights, appearing bold and uncommon yet beautiful and unique. For Spring/Summer 2024, Yohji Yamamoto toyed with the good, bad, and ugly sides of fashion, pinning different eras together for the battle of the century.
Yamamoto’s customary black palette overwhelmed the collection with mysterious energy, debuting his trademark silhouettes with slashed and graphic ornamentation. The first look consisted of a knot-tied pinstriped coat made from shimmering fabric, paired with matching trousers, a scarf, and a contrasting flannel shirt. Somber collarless outerwear and tonal layers walked with a stony-faced demeanor, while times changed into multi-buttoned suiting with decadent insect lapel pins and silver satin shirting.
Next, Yamamoto’s oversized garments took on a fresh life with eerie facial illustrations and unfinished patchwork features. Lastly, falling angels multiplied across effortless co-ords, accompanied by feet-printed surfaces and ruffled accents delivered in new and exciting ways for Yamamoto.
