Maria Koch carries over brand staples, reworks them and serves it all up in a washed-out palette, reminding us of the clothes we already have.

Think about it: is there actually anything new in this day and age? Sure, there are advancements, but what’s actually completely new, unheard of, never done before? These are the questions 032c, by means of Maria Koch and its ready-to-wear division, want you to think about when it comes to dissecting its Spring/Summer 2024 collection.
In many ways, 032c’s SS24 “Nothing New” collection is an ironically sustainable message. In producing a collection of clothes, it makes you consider if these clothes, or any new clothes for that matter, are actually worth it at all. They’re just reinventions of what we already have.
So, assuming you have the space for literal new clothes in your life, perhaps 032c SS24 is the collection for you. The focus is direct, carrying over brand staples such as its denim, suit jackets, and wool jumpers, which all feature tweaks of reinvention — a sense of newness, and simultaneously, familiarity.
For example, the washed-out hues used on a pair of jeans and matching multi-pocket workwear shirt act as an ode to authenticity, as if the clothes have actually been previously worn and worked in, while the silhouette is now higher on the waist, boxier on the shoulder and chest, and baggier at the bottom, like you’re borrowing your dad’s old clothes. The same goes for its hoodie, desaturated in gray tones and overdyed embroidery while fitting snug, tightly cut and cropped on the body.
Pieces are intentionally crinkled or transparent, working alongside the rest of the collection for that feeling of “Noting New” looking exactly that.
Speaking on the collection, Maria Koch said: “I was interested in working with the spectrum of loose street silhouettes and tight tailoring, with baggy volumes morphing into evening proposals. The color palette has been reduced to support this direction.”
And to conclude the collection, 032c has worked with the German eyewear brand MYKITA on a series of retro-futuristic sunglasses, as well as UNÜTZER to help design its made-in-Italy footwear.
