Following its “PERMAFROST” collection inspired by the indigenous people of the Arctic, young n sang has now returned with its latest sustainable handwoven collection. Collaborating with Kering (PARIS:KER.PA -0.64%) group and shown in Pitti, Italy, the “Album” collection saw mentoring from Kering, along with a sharing of handweaving ideas and outlooks on sustainable materials.
young n sang, helmed by Youngshin and Sanglim, shares, “We have been working on collection images with our grandfather to express ageless wear. At some point, these images began to be very meaningful memories for our family, beyond the collection images, and now being precious ‘Albums’ for our family.”
Kering Material Innovation Lab (MIL) offered various natural yarns to young n sang’s atelier adding to its collection of unique yarns, fabrics, and technique resources utilized throughout the “Album” collection. The “Album” collection is inspired by the threat textures, colors, and shapes of oriental vacances, reflected in the usage of vintage (20-50-year-old materials), organic, and natural fabrics. All textiles are designed and handwoven in the young n sang atelier to explore an ageless design concept. Other sustainable accents to styles include magnetic buttons, natural shell logo, and chains found inside the clothes to create the silhouette.
