The academic school year has ended, and (gloomy) British summers are upon us. University graduates are saying goodbye to classrooms for the final time, eager to share their learnings with the world. Following Central Saint Martins and London College of Fashion, Istituto Marangoni London‘s 2023 graduating class unveiled their final collections to a hungry crowd of friends, family, and fashion insiders.
Istituto Marangoni London took a distinct approach to graduate runways, seeing ten students push their clothing into the Metaverse. Each finalist presented six designs that previewed London’s digital fashion future, landing in the hands of Angelynne Viorenique Andersen, Anna Savchenko, Giju Kim, Hammotal Blair Hen, Hyun Jik Yoo, Jiaxi Zhuang, Lucrezia Grazioli, Natálie Kabeláčová, Rudraksh Singh, and Ummehani Kanchwala.
The graduates created eye-catching ensembles under “DISRUPT/DISTORT” themes, seeing Angelynne Viorenique Andersen begin the runway with frizzled yarn designs, billowing leather, and blistered knitwear. Anna Savchenko delivered cutout pixilated garments taken from the future, while Giju Kim’s haunting menswear saw patchwork suiting grow floor-length arms and denim uniforms filled with rounded shoulder pads. Hyun Jik Yoo received Marangoni’s Designer of the Year award for his ruffled workwear, veined cable knits, and paneled layering.
Take a closer look at all designs from Istituto Marangoni London’s 2023 graduate runway show in the gallery above.
