BEAMS, the Japanese fashion label and retailer, has been dabbling in golf for the last several years now, providing an alternative uniform for golfers that want to distinguish themselves from players of the past. Similar to last season, BEAMS GOLF has divided its deliveries for FW23 into two sub-collections; Molto Inglese and Alternative Golf in San Francisco. Two distinct aesthetics see the brand going for preppy academia on one hand, and sporty and functional on the other.
Molto Inglese represents the former of the two styles, and BEAMS describes it as an ode to Italians who enjoy British style. The sub-collection is comprised primarily of knitwear adorned with micro patterns and preppy touches like contrast collars and ribbed necklines. Think in the vein of sweaters, vests and long sleeve polos. In contrast to that, Alternative Golf in San Francisco is informed by skate and surf culture on America’s West Coast. But in a funny way, the collection is suited for a similarly mild and rainy winter climate to the one across the pond with fleece pullovers, tactical vests and nylon jackets.
