London-based designer Feng Chen Wang is pushing her Fall/Winter 2023 collection onto international retail shelves, presenting the range at Paris Fashion Week earlier this year. For FW23, Feng Chen Wang looked to ancient Chinese traditions across cultural attire with modern touches. To accompany its release, the Asian designer decks royal halls overlooking the city below.
Feng Chen Wang’s FW23 campaign reflects the collection’s community-focused inspiration, honoring several Chinese practices like “Hundred Families Robes” and Chinese knots. The designer’s deconstructed motifs reign supreme across paneled tweed suiting, hanging by primeval window sills next to puffed leather ensembles.
Her grandparents quilted blankets are envisioned across billowing bomber jackets, while glossy leather uniforms receive swollen shoulder pads and enlarged chest knots for secure fastening. Dim blue hues are injected into checkered wool outerwear and slashed sweater vests, heading outdoors in cropped red costumes and long-haired Phoenix coats.
