Ervin Latimmier is becoming Finland’s strongest emerging talent, staging his third runway as part of Copenhagen Fashion Week‘s New Talent program. For Spring/Summer 2024, Latimmier revealed a grandiose showcase guided by his drag queen personality, Anna Conda.
The collection combines Latimmier’s previous collections under one roof, exploring past references while looking to the future through dramatic alter egos. The designer’s latest menswear garments kept deconstructed motifs at the forefront, reflecting The Wolf of Wall Street‘s dialogue on “archetypes of men in power in North American films and television.” Latimmier’s SS24 offering inspects the fashion choices worn by men with influential status, some walking down the runway in contrast-stitched suiting wrapped in tight bandages restricting mobility.
Asymmetrical necklines awkwardly detailed invoice-printed variations shredded to bits, while bootleg sweatsuits are “elevated” with peeking shirt collars and hooded neckties speaking on contradicting office codes. Red-tipped ballpoint pens clung to sleeveless shirting with “MONEY POWER GLORY” text, seeing green writing tools grasp pajama-inspired pinstriped co-ords.
As the final seven looks went down the runway, Latimmier tore his contemporary menswear to shreds and cut split button-downs and pleated trousers into strips. Traditional blazers were turned around and secured with chest suspenders, seeing Anna Conda close the show by bolting down the runway in performance.
