Levi’s has joined forces with Eli Russell Linnetz‘s Venice Beach-based fashion brand ERL for a Californian-inspired denim collection. Since ERL’s launch in 2020, the brand has quickly made a name for itself, known for its playful and retro designs that blends the pop art aesthetics with skatewear and surf culture. Bringing these elements to denim, the Levi’s x ERL collection is born.
Continuing to take on the laid-back, effortless essence of the West Coast, the collection takes on iconic Levi’s silhouettes, incorporating ERL’s Californian casual to the first-ever collaboration. The collection features the classic 501 jeans to celebrate its 150th anniversary. Slit cuts are added to the side of the legs for the Levi’s x ERL 501 light wash jean while the loose fitting ones feature a frayed waistband. The Low Rise Flare featurs a superflare starting at the knees. The collaborative shorts are oversized board shorts, a nod to the Venice Beach look while the Mini Skirt is a cut pair of light, washed out indigo 5-pocket jeans.
Alongside the bottoms, denim tops include a light indigo finish as well as a boxy sherpa trucker, duster trucker, overshir and heritage dress. Each of the pieces feature the signature neon ERL logo. Linnetz said in a statement regarding the collection, “It was super exciting to work with the Levi’s team on the design process. Because authenticity is the most important thing to me, I really enjoyed going through the Levi’s® archives to fully understand the heritage of the brand and see how people throughout the years have customized and made it their own. Our Levi’s x ERL collection has a very grunge, casual, and skater energy. It’s easy to throw on for everyday wear but it’s still identifiable with a clear voice and signature.”
