Since his appointment at the helm of Givenchy, American designer and 1017 ALYX 9SM founder Matthew M Williams has reinvented the fashion House with bold silhouettes and youthful confidence. Williams studied contemporary elegance for Fall/Winter 2023, seeing him put a spring in his step for Spring/Summer 2024.
Givenchy’s latest showcase was held in Paris’ École-Militaire, designed in partnership with New York-based architect Gabriel Calatrava. The calm environment was clad in monochromatic white, reflecting the collection’s sleek delivery. A-list guests, including Tyga, Jared Leto, and Cher, sat front-row to experience the magic firsthand.
Givenchy SS24 took power suiting to a new level, seeing structured blazers, pleated trousers, and dainty slip dresses stand firmly. Sophistication reigned supreme through seductive design codes inspired by everyday women, while common wardrobe staples were uplifted through premium textiles grounded in elegance.
An essential black blazer and coordinating skirt strongly began the showcase, followed by sheer dresses that revealed the female form. Blooming flowers were painted on skin-tinted mesh and spring-ready dresses, topped with pastel coats and petite handbags. Deep-V tops plunged low while lightweight garments opened at the back. Strong-shouldered outerwear arrived in silk textiles and vibrant hues, counteracted by rebellious leather uniforms for disobedient wearers. Sheer gloves jumped from look to look with grace, seeing the final batch supply darkened eveningwear with glistening embellishments and detailed lace accents.
