For the Spring/Summer 2024 season, Private Policy settled on oceanside inspiration with its new “In My Coral World” collection – using its affinity for contemporary stylings to convey a journey of coral reef protection. With it, the brand’s latest collection adds to the larger conversation about environmental justice and how we can all use our unique talents to aid in healing the Earth.
To get their point across, founders/creative directors Siying Qu and Haoran Li headed to Ideal Glass Studios to reveal their remixed vision of signature edgy styling that harbors aspects of club, cool and utilitarianism all with a slight sensuality. Several menswear ensembles came to be through technical zippered tops and jackets paired with matching pants. Enhancing the garments were design details like zippers alongside plastic buckles, slightly oversized pockets and metal D-ring fastenings.
Denim shortly entered the mix via gray wash and medium wash hues that appeared across relaxed bottoms with frayed ends, oversized multi-pocket tops, matching sets with eye-catching broad shoulder jackets and crop tops with mini skirts. But among the collection’s varied use of fabric, highlights included gradient sequined mini-dresses and technical sequined suiting with floor-length jackets in lavender and black, which closed out the show.
